My Story
Last year, sadly, I was not in a position to participate in the Great Cycle Challenge. However, this year, with a new, you beaut bike gifted to me by my son, I am back hoping to raise funds again for this worthwhile cause. In 2022 I managed to ride 317km, some on a stationary bike at the gym (when there was inclement weather or as part of my early morning gym visit) and the rest around my local area. I was able to raise valuable funds to support the Children’s Medical Research Institute.
Swooping magpies aside, I have enjoyed each year’s challenge and the sore muscles have most definitely been worth it to help kids fighting childhood cancer. The promotional material I received told me that cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in Australia and every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So, I am participating again this year, starting on Tuesday 1st October. I am hoping to ride further than 2022 but not too much further or my goal for 2025 may be too big as I try to increase a bit each year! Haha!
I am very aware that the cost of living crisis is making things difficult for many people and that there are many worthwhile charities seeking donations, so I realise you may not have the ability to support me, but any donation, no matter the size, will make a difference. Thank you.
