768km in total for October blows my intended target out of the water. I feel like I have really achieved a milestone in my fitness and now can’t look back. But it’s not all about me. I have raised my target funds and this goes to a cause so here’s hoping what I have done has made a difference. Time to sign off and thank everyone for their contributions and all the encouragement along the way 🙏

Both my targets reached. Thank you so far to those who have donated we seem to have made it past the $200 and I’m pleased to say I have managed to get to my 500km target. So really - how much can I do? How much is too much. Let’s just see shall we! Today I had a ride with my son- something that I have not done for a while now, he says he has love handles so has to loose a little… yeah right. Some moments you don’t take for granted ☺️ As a father you will do anything one that more moment. Let’s hope we can give another parent that one more moment.

    16 Oct 2024

Heading out this morning on a 1 hour ride. Back on the dirt trails this morning, feeling like my body is strong. I haven’t felt this good for a while now. Getting back to my younger riding form is the end game. Approaching my target already and this week will see it complete if all goes to plan. Let’s see by how many ks I can beat it by 👊🏼

  • 6 rides in 6 days… trigger warning… ⚠️
    6 Oct 2024

Still feeling good after 6 days of getting a ride in. It’s amazing what adopting a cause does- motivation is a key point to getting myself up and out there daily. Once a month is completed this should be habitual. I guess the question is to rest or not to rest? Daylight Savings is here so I can have a be little not time in the evenings to ride after work. So I think tomorrow will be a short 20k easy recovery ride to keep the k’s ticking over.

Out mixing it up with the 🚘 that get around the Island with no regard for others safety…. 😖 I feel like a cyclist again giving my hand signals a work out 🖕🏼 I will be glad for next week when the tourists go home and it’s back to quiet. If only people knew why people ride they may have a little more consideration.

  • Feeling like I’m back ☺️
    3 Oct 2024

You know when you are feeling better. When I started back on this journey, I was struggling to get up and go. This morning I was back to excited to get in the bike and see what my past two weeks of cramming in training was doing to my body. I feel I have “levelled up” with my average pace increasing and my heart rate and breathing under control I’m ready for a longer distance this weekend.

  • Day 1 - training ride
    1 Oct 2024

Feeling good, I’ve been on a little battle to get to this point- both mentally and physically. Turns out mental health and physical health are more connected than I first thought.

It’s been a while since I felt this good really. 25ks down, 475 to go..
