A quick thank you to all of my supporters in the GCC 2024 fundraising challenge.
A great result thanks to your generosity which will go towards making life just a little easier for kids with cancer.
Thank you all
Steve
I slipped back west on the map to hit Bairnsdale and the start of the East Gippsland Rail Trail at Howitt Park. What an awesome location. Well over 100kms of good track to navigate (I didn't get the whole track in due to accommodation challenges - maybe next time).
Beautiful pastures and lovely views - very nice :)
OK, I have dropped in to Lakes Entrance for a few days to ensure some variety as I pedal around for the GCC. See my drone pic of the view @ 100 metres altitude!
Officially...this place is amazing. So relaxing, quiet, full of friendly people who actually nod or say 'Hi' as I cycle past them. Such a change from the city life.
Don't even get me started on the seafood either....unbelievably fresh.
The first ride is done and I have now riden from one end of the 'Lakes' to the other, visited the entrance itself, the Coast Guard, the Port Authority buildings and more. Next ride will likely be a meander around the town centre just to get my bearings.
Thank you everyone for the support! I have now successfully surpassed my fundraising goal for this year as well as hitting and exceeding the $10,000 total funds raised milestone! Over $13k and counting - all thanks to you and your generosity :)
Sincere thanks to you all.
Steve
I am once again humbled and super appreciative of the amazing support that this cause induces in my family, friends and work colleagues. I have exceeded my fundraising goal already today thanks to your generosity!
Something else that I am extremely proud of is reaching and now exceeding the $10,000 milestone of funds raised over the 5 years I have participated in the GCC event.
Seeing that figure appear and then extend even further makes this all worth the effort.
I am nowhere near a decent fitness level, but pushing through a lot of 'old man' pain for this is the ultimate reward, so a sincere thank you to every one of my supporters!
I can't wait for the next couple of weeks - stay tuned for some cool pics of my rides!
I got my first official kms out of the way tonight after work. A nice, easy and relaxing loop for 8.7km around Scoresby.
I thought my cranks were a bit noisy - turns out it was my knees warming up! It was nice to get out into the pleasant evening air and just cruise easily around the tracks.
More to come - stay tuned!
