Hey Everyone,

October is the month I try to help make a difference for kids battling with cancer in Australia. My goal is to ride at least 500kms (I want to try and hit 750kms) and raise at least $1000.00 for this awesome cause. $2000.00 would be even better! This will be my 4th year taking part in this.

Cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in Australia. Over 700 Australian children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 children die every week.

I get asked why I'm doing this... I don't have kids, don't want to have kids and most of the time, don't like them. They're noisy, demanding, expensive and a lot of work. One of the reasons I didn't want any was, I didn't want to have to deal with a little version of me!! I was hard work... (according to my parents, I thought I was delightful...)! 🤣

BUT, no child should have to be dealing with or battling with cancer. Kids should be out causing mischief, having fun with friends and living life to the fullest. All of my immediate family has either died of or had cancer in one form or another. It's hard enough watching and supporting an adult through this nasty disease. I can't imagine what these parents face and how if affects their lives.

How will I achieve this:

Riding to work each day (minimum of 4 days per week), rain, hail or heatwave. That's 44km return each day...

Taking part in the Brisbane to Gold Coast ride on the 12th October. That's 100km!

Mountain biking with our dogs in the weekend (this will be heat dependant)

Jumping on the bike when I get some spare time in the weekends, after taking care of the cows, chickens, dogs and my amazing wife too.
