My Story

8 Oct 2024

This October, for the third time, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Together, we can save little lives.

I'm taking on fewer kilometres this year because my 71year old body is showing some signs of wear and tear.

Thanks for your support.

  • Ride 5 done
    9 Oct 2024

Thank you to all my sponsors. Today I hit my target and now will see how much we can beat it by.

Had fun fixing my puncture and watching the weather. Ride was good. I only got a little wet, and that helped keep me cool. Glad I went this morning because looks like it's going to be raining this afternoon.

  • Ride 3, Day 4 of GCC
    3 Oct 2024

Earlier ride today, set off a bit after 7.30. Morning traffic was heavier than I expected.

Wetlands ride was great, so nice to be in the forest park.

  • Day 2 done and dusted
    2 Oct 2024

It was a shorter ride today but more challenging with a couple of solid climbs.

Weather wasn't as kind with a decent headwind on the last hill. That headwind was nothing compared to what the kids I'm riding for face every day.

    Please support the GCC.

  • Day 1 , near perfect.
    1 Oct 2024

What a great day to start the GCC. Weather couldn't have been better with clear blue skies overhead, virtually no wind, and 23°C.

The others on the path, walkers and cyclists, were all happy and friendly.

Feeling good for the rest of the challenge

    Day 1 , near perfect.
