I'm Riding For

My Mother and my Sister,

This is Mum in 2023, at my son's wedding. Fast forward to January 15th this year, and our worlds were shattered, Mum had terminal bowel cancer. At 94, she said "I have lived a good life". This year she is my incentive to do as much as possible to raise funds for children who have not had the chance to live their lives like children should, because they are too busy in a hospital fighting for their lives, to beat cancer. My sister is still fighting her fight.

My Story

This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge for my sixth time, to support the fight against kids' cancer!

Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

And so, I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

This year, my added incentive to ride harder, and longer, is in loving memory of my Mum, Yvonne who passed away in March this year, from bowel cancer. Also my sister, who is continuing her fight against cancer, with determination, and such a positive attitue-she is my role model on what it means to be a wonderful human being.

End of the Challenge

This year's challenge has been worthwhile for me in more ways than one. Foremost, the desire to help raise funds to boost research into children's cancer. Then, losing my Mum to cancer in March this year at the age of 94.5 years, with her words of "I have had a good life", giving me detemination to do my best on this years challenge. Thank you so much to everyone who has ridden, donated and supported riders from all corners, that support is always so greatfully received by the C.M.R.I, to eventually free innocent children from their cancer battles, and for them to have a good life.
