I found the little HERO I was looking for.

His name is Oliver?

Let me tell you about him and why he ranks as a HERO.

My name is Allan Murray, and as a 75 year old cyclist I'm promising to ride 300 kilometres in the month of October as I take part in the Great Cycle Challenge which raises funds to fight against those mongrel diseases, CHILDHOOD CANCERS.

As the legs pump, the wheels turn and the kilometres add up, OLIVER and his cancer diagnosis will be my inspiration.

2-year-old Oliver is a cheeky toddler who loves playing with dinosaurs and has everyone ‘wrapped around his little finger.’

When the whole family came down with the common cold, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. But Oliver was the only one who didn’t get over his cold.

But things took a turn a few days later on the 16th of June, when Oliver woke up and was having trouble breathing.

Things escalated from there and before his parents knew it, a team had come down from the Royal Children’s Hospital to transport Oliver to the ICU.

It was at 6pm on the 16th of June, 9 hours after they had first walked through the doors at Frankston hospital that they were to find that little Oliver had a mass all across his chest and was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

He has undergone so much in his little life and still has 2 1/2 years of treatment to get through.

That's why I'm am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
